I'm building a new PC for Christmas, i don't know a lot about building PC's, but i thought that i would give it a try. Are all of these components compatible and powerful another to spec for new PC games. AL so is there anything else i need to buy?

http://orders.ebuyer.com/customer/sh...19jYXJ0&stid=1

A link to your basket doesn't work for everyone else.

That is superbly spec'd. Some of my favourite components in there. But why an SLI board and a single gpu? Get an Asus P5K-E and future proof the build further.

Anyway, you need a hsf (heatsink and fan) for the cpu. The stock intel one just doesn't cut it on a quad.

I'd be getting an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro or a Tuniq Tower. The TT cools slightly better than the AC but it's huge (it will fit in the Antec 900 though), weighs near on a kilo (way over the mobo's design limits) and costs a lot.

The AC is lighter, a lot, cost's around half, and cools to within a couple of degrees of the TT.

For an O.S? Well, take your pick. Don't get vista 64bit. No self-respecting home user should be seen dead with it at the moment.

XP will obviously not show up any compatibility issues with software and/or drivers. But for future proofing you want Vista. So if you go that route 32bit premium would be my choice.

Trust me on this, you're going to need a better hsf for the cpu than the stock Intel one. Your money though, your choice.

Yes, i might get an Zalman CNPS9700 NT, but other than that is everything compatible and is it a good choice for a budget gaming PC? Also is vista a good option for a OS?

thank for the advise, had a bit of s lag spike :s (sorry for posting twice :P), and yes i will get a better HSF and also get vista premium 32bit :P

I'm getting an :

Asus P5N-E SLI 650i Socket 775 PCI-E Onboard Audio ATX MotherboardEVGA

instead of a

ASUS P5K-E

because it's cheaper, and also i can upgrade it to sli with no extra cost.
