| ok this new computer i bought, with no video card, then switched to a higher w power supply for the new video card i bought kinda just screwd up on me, at first the computer just wouldnt wake up from sleeps then i have to restart it. now it just wont start most of the time the weird thing is IT WORKS SOMETIMES, rarely, but when it does, it will just freeze in the middle of a game or just as soon as it gets to the desktop and the screen goes all weird. then when i try to restart it it wont!!(without video card, with the video card it'll just freeze) ORRR..(most of the time) it will just have the power light on, and nothin at the display. when i had the video card on, the card will make a loud noise, but now i have everythin bak to original and it still happens. the thing that confuses me is dat IT WORKS SOMETIMES. so i think maybe the cables arent connected rite? and i dun hear any beeps, just reeeaaally quiet clicks(lyk four of them) when the computer doesnt start.the three reeeally quiet clicks r from the harddrive i think.. cuz i opened the computer up n listend to it. Maybe i screwd up the mother board while screwin the cpu bak in by pressin it 2 hard or w.e...... but please heelllllllp.!!!!!! |

| If you are getting no display at all, not even bios posts, then it sounds like the graphics card is is faulty.

It moght help if you give some specs and a bit more info ... i.e. did the system work ok to begin with .... how did you install the OS .... also what do you mean when you say "Maybe i screwd up the mother board while screwin the cpu bak in by pressin it 2 hard" .... do you mean you removed the CPU and Heatsink ? ... why ? | yeah i dun really think its a video card problem, cuz i changed everything bak to where it worked b4, which was with the original 300w with no video card but the onboard one. i removed the cpu fan cuz the fan was too big and was in my way when i was tryin to change the power supply. the os was installed when i bought it. and yes it did work. with the original specs, all i did was change the power supply and added a video card. and also like i said, sometimes it goes in, but then it will definitely freeze. just a matter of minutes to hours. then wont start anymore.sometimes i will get not display at all, like the light on the monitor is yellow, and never turns green. |

| Depends on your system, but usually tapping DEL or F2, sometimes F10 will get you into bios.

| Well if your system is freezing in bios, it sounds to me as though there are other things going on here.

Check that your RAM is seated properly .... also if you have more than one stick, try removing one and see if this helps .... if not swap them around, keeping to just one. The idea of turning the on boards graphic card off in bios is .... in case their is a conflict, but I am thinking this is something different. My System: Home Build

| Could also be an overheating deal, would explain the "screen going all weird" (artifacts) |

| If all that you have done is add a graphics card, then just connect your cable to your card first then failing that put it in the original one, when it starts and it will, use only the drivers that came with the card, then check for updates, you may then proceed to change the adapter ( card ) in the control panel/display. do not be messing with anything else, if you want tp prove its the card, i suggest rmoving it and trying it as it was before you messed with it. Just goes to prove if you don't know what your doing don't touch it. |
