Help with new build

Hi.

Need some help on a new build.

I want a decent gaming rig for around £500.

I can build it myself its just the parts.

I need everything that goes into the PC.

I currently only have a 1024x748 monitor so a decent GFX card would suffice.

Cheers

The latest PCPro has an article addressing exactly that!

Try looking through <Link hidden. Register for free to see this link!> topic, it is still fairly accurate, and gives you a good idea what to expect, however don't go by just that as it hasn't been updated very recently.

Wish I could edit my oldest posts :p

Nothing's changed since then except the budget recommendation, which is the 9600GT. A P35/9600GT/E8200 core setup should work fine here, I'm not sure what the situation is on pricing over there and I've heard it can be a lot worse than the US so I imagine that's not as high as I'd assume converting it to USD.

If you have the money, of course, the recommended upgrade path is 8800GT 512 over 9600GT, then E8400 over E8200. Creative's been really good with their X-Fi sound line too and that's always nice.

Case is your call. if this runs you still under budget consider picking up a new monitor as 1024x768 is pretty old and bigger res is always nice.

Trust me, prices are way too expensive in the UK.

You're lucky if you can get that spec done with a decent case etc for under £500.

But it's what you want to aim for.

Carbon, if you want to edit that post, I'm sure if you PM a mod or Dave they will be very happy to edit it for you.
