Hi all,

I am completely new to the world of self-builds and am looking to put together a decent system for myself but haven't really got any idea about where to start. I am fairly happy with picking which components are better than others, but I have no idea how to balance them out so that it won't bottleneck in one area and slow the whole thing down.

My budget is around £500 and I will mainly be using it for standard internet/office stuff, design work in InDesign/Photoshop CS4 and probably blu-ray playback, with maybe some low-level gaming. I was also hoping I might fit a dual-tuner tv card in it for recording when I am not around. I am not fussed as to the aesthetics of it, but would preferably like something fairly discreet and quiet. I am planning to hook it up to probably a 24" Samsung Rosa monitor (separate to the above budget).

Any help or advice would be very welcome.
