How to install optical drive and SATA drive Question

The question I have is, I am installing a SATA drive ( 1 only ) and installing a DVD burner also. ( Seperate hookup ) Does the Master /Slave issue make any difference when they are not on the same cable. The SATA dive did not have a jumper on the back, so does the optical have to be Master. It is is the only drive on the cable going to the MB. First time hooking up a SATA drive. Present computer had IDE HD drive.

SATA doesn't have master/slave as such (each drive has own cable). The DVD drive should be set to set to master and connected to the master end of the IDE cable.
If your computer doesn't automatically boot off the SATA drive, set it in the BIOS as the boot HDD.

you posted 2xs fyi but i guess ill ansyer the optical doesnt have to be master but make it master anyways
