In late November the my HP Pavillion dv8013cl computer shut down completely and did not restart. There was no power (led lights, fan, hard drive, video, etc.). Completely dead ( tried another power supply, but did not work). I decided to purchase a new motherboard and cpu and install. Since installing I now have some power back; the fan turns on as well as the led lights, but that's it. It stops booting and I don't receive anything on the monitor. The cd/dvd drive does spin, but does not read the operating recovery disk. There is no video at all. troubleshooting : I have tried to reseat the ram and also tried to turn the computer on with the ram removed, however there is no response (beeping). I have recovered the information of the hard drive with a usb adapter so I'm not worried about loss of information. It appears the hard drive is not booting up.

Are you running the old PSU or the new one you tried before the mobo swap?

I have two power supply cords-one I purchased about a year ago and the original. I was having problems keeping the battery charged and this seemed to work. When I determined it was the mobo I brought it to Geek Squad to test another power supply just to be sure. Maybe I should bring it back and do the same? I have both power cords and each ellicit the same response.

I've tried another PSU, but did not get any further. Still the same response.
