Default I need advice -buying a new PC

Hi

I'm buying a new PC, I've never actually bought a new one before always second hand (or 3rd 4th 5th etc).
I wonder if i can get some advice on this.
I just want to make sure I get a good deal.
I'm not a really heavy user. I just want it for interenet use, digital camera, and music for my phone. Which one of these is a good deal do you think?

1. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/pro...rmationSection

2. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/102722

3. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...rmationSection

4. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...7&category_oid=

Also would I have to buy a separate disc for word excel etc?

Thanks

Have you had a look at places like www.dabs.com and www.ebuyer.com and www.europc.co.uk

You will get a better deal online.

These are all reconditioned/refurbished and as such are not cheap.
I wouldn't buy a PC from PC World new, let alone a reconditioned one, you dont know who has used/abused it and for how long.

As Dave said above, shop around, there are plenty of god deals.

Please don't buy from PC World, especially not those. I would never buy a refurbished PC, definitely not at those prices.

If you give me a price range and whether you need a monitor I will find you some good computers.

And to answer your question, you will need to buy a separate disk for Microsoft Office unless the computer comes with it preinstalled. It is about £100 for the home and student version.

well I dont want to spend more than £300. even thats pushing it. But I also want a good system. My friend has a disc with word excel etc on it which she will lend me so I dont need to worry about that anymore.
I would really appreciate some help with buying a new pc. I'm quite desperate.

Well if it's just for interenet use, digital camera, and music for your phone, you certainly dont need anything too fancy.
With a budget of £300, without a monitor and without an Operating System ... have a look at these :

You do need an Operating System, but you never said if you already own one.

I was just pointing out that the prices in the links do not include one

If you go back to either of the links and scroll down, you will see you can add an Operating System of your choice ... i.e. XP Home = £69.99.

For what you need the PC World £300 job with the TFT monitor will suit your needs, I wouldn't buy a PC from there, but for what you need, it will be fine.

Don't you know anyone that could build one for you? For £300 you could get a good one made up using some second hand components, you can even get really good HP referbs direct from HP on ebay, and they are fully warrented and only go for around £200 for the topo spec ones, and you can pick up a TFT for £100, the rest of the input devices are virtually pennies.
