For what you need the PC World £300 job with the TFT monitor will suit your needs, I wouldn't buy a PC from there, but for what you need, it will be fine.

Don't you know anyone that could build one for you? For £300 you could get a good one made up using some second hand components, you can even get really good HP referbs direct from HP on ebay, and they are fully warrented and only go for around £200 for the topo spec ones, and you can pick up a TFT for £100, the rest of the input devices are virtually pennies.

monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers are the basic ones, then you have printer and scanner. to complete a set up.
