It seems I only have 2 to choose from with my budget. Which one should I choose? I think I'll go for the first 1. What dyou think?

That is just the shop list, look here too

http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/sear...trypage=search

And bear in mind these are base stations only, with no peripherals.

monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers are the basic ones, then you have printer and scanner. to complete a set up.

You don't really need to enter anything in there. Just type in desktop PC or something in the main search bar.

Here is a link to the Dell Factory Outlet on Ebay
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Dell-Outlet

I'm not sure if I can say this here in the forum but if you wanted I could get a decent computer together for you for about £300. Feel free to PM me.

Those two PC's that the above poster linked to are not bad either. Good price.

Whatever you do make sure you have at least 1Gb RAM with Vista. I came across a new machine recently that had a1.8Ghz Celeron and 512Mb Ram with Vista home basic. It was woefully slow.

Safest bet is not to use Vista, well unless you are happy to pay for most of the software you want to use on it, and renew older version as there are more compatibility issues with Vista than there ever was with XP.

I tend to disagree with what the previous poster said, there is no reason not to use Vista now. The 32 bit version is pretty good now and most stuff will support it.

We're going to have to upgrade some day...... Why not now!

Sparky33 will have been banned for doing something against the rules of the forum. I think it can probably be left at that.

There is nothing wrong with buying something from th eBay store he recommended though. Why don't you say exactly what computer you are looking at and we can give you some more info about it..
