Default If I already have cable high speed in one room can I

just add a modem in another room? I have it hooked up in the downstairs, and I want to hook up two different computers upstairs. I already have a router conecting these two. I don't want to run the CAT up there if I don't have to. I already have cable up there and would rather just plug in a modem. Would that work?

You could but you would have to have 2 accounts from your ISP (counterproductive).. Have you considered a Wireless Router and Wireless Networking cards? Perhaps the best idea is to purchase a wireless router (sell your other router) connect the 2 computers and cable modem upstairs and then purchase a single wireless network card for the computer downstairs..

It is not possible unless you get your ISP to install another jackpoint etc. You must buy a Wireless Router (I recommend Linksys), and some Wireless Networking Cards. You should have everything running smoothly in no time, you will just need to be sure that you do not get an ADSL router!
