Default Image sections refreshing at different rates.

My computer had a new motherboard fitted with an integrated graphics card about a year ago. I have a broadband connection, averaging a speed of 1500kbs. Recently sections of the screen refresh at different times. Even scrolling text, it appears that the screen is split into 4 or 5 vertical strips which refresh independently. Can anyone offer any advice please? Just to add to the confusion, the system worked perfectly last night for about an hour!!!

Thanks for your advice. I tried the system with an old CRT monitor but still get the same problems. As I've had the computer for over 4 years, I think I shall be looking for a new basic computer in the January sales!! Can anyone recommend a reliable inexpensive supplier?

Ian
