I have some older computers I bought at a yard sale, and im trying to put new components into them. Well i ran into a few problems. When i boot the pc with a newer hd in it, it wont boot. It says something like Error 14 D Grub... i think something of that. Any Advice??

Assuming the newer hard drives have been used before...

Windows installs on hard drives are specific to the hardware in the PC they were originally installed in.

So taking a hard drive out of one machine and putting it into another and expecting it to boot is rather optimistic.

Do a fresh install.

Are you SURE you are in the BIOS, the BIOS does not give error messages, it will either show up or it wont.

If it doesn't it is either connected wrong or faulty.

I think the error message you are getting is because this drive was previously used with Linux and the Grub Bootloader is still on the drive.

Go into bios and change the drive boot order to make the CD the first boot drive and the HDD second, then boot with an XP Disk, go to Recovery Console and type fdisk /mbr then exit and boot with the XP CD again and see if the drive is now available for use.
