Can't remember if i looked or not.

I'll go have a nosey now.

Also, don't go alienware. They're owned by Dell. They charge CHARGE!! you for restore discs.

Everything is alien this or alien that, you don't see the brand other than the cpu and card really.

And their customer service is absolutely lousy. Yes, I have used, or tried to, a while ago for a lappy for the missus (because it looked nice....). I'd never use them again.

Speakers: Couldn't see them listed on the build page but go for Logitech X530's. Around £35. Great 2.1 speaker setup.
Hi alex
isn't this a 7.1 surround sound set up?

In the gamers section the only one that comes close (on a price basis) is a very similar build except its a AMD 6000 cpu, which compared to a 6600 running at 6800 speeds (same 4mb cache on both chips), is lousy. Slower ram as well.

I'm still liking the first build I quoted you.

yeah me too, i'm trying to balance peripherals now, i've been thinking what insomnia was saying about having problems on bigger monitors is this quite possible?

That build will game, happily, on a 24-27" (1920x1200) screen. I've done it. COD4 was no trouble. To be fair though, didn't play Crysis.

At those resolutions the sheer speed (not amount of cores, at the moment anyway) of the cpu comes into play. So the cpu quoted will not be a problem.

It's all dependent on what resolution you see yourself gaming at.

At a low res of 1280x1024/1440x900 that build is massive overkill.

At 1680x1050 it's pretty much spot on.

At 1920x1200 it will game happily.

These are all general quotes but, again, having gamed at the highest resolution using a similar setup (X6800, 640mb gts, Samsung 244T) I'm confident quoting about this resolution.

Again though, you need to decide what resolution monitor you intend on purchasing.

Hi Mate
I had a look at some reviews on the internet for the Samsung 22" 226 and have had a lot of feedback that it has something called screen bleeding which doesn't sound too merry I guess a good mark for screen resolution would be 1,600x1,200 or over I figure anything less would be a waste of the graphics card?

Really?

Must be referring to backlight bleed. If so this is only prevalent at higher brightness settings. Can only state that the one I played with was really rather good. Saying that, it was a "S" panel, so a true Samsung panel. This'll have some bearing I guess.

Anyway, Asus pw201 then, should've really quoted you that in the first place to be honest but was limited by Overclockers listings on the page. Still, don't suppose it matters if you purchase the screen elsewhere does it.

Yeah, any resolution less than 1650x1050 would be a waste of that card. But, you could always change the spec to suit a lower resolution. You're not forced to game on a 20-22" screen are you.

Just had a quick look at a review of the Asus pw201 and it mentions that the glossy screen is both a blessing and a curse, again i'm at your mercy mate, as I haven't ever had a glossy finished screen before, my last monitor was a 19 inch flat screen CRT made by phillips. But getting into TFT's I have no idea, if you reckon it's worth having a closer look at I will.

Ahhh yes but it's an excuse to!
However i'm not cementing anything yet, I guess due to lack of computer knowledge I wouldn't know whether its better to go for a smaller monitor or a larger monitor and adjust the settings
