Although prices on all these sites to change from day to day, so the difference could be more or less come tomorrow. But hey, I can't do anything about that. ![]() I've future proofed the build as much as possible: Quad core cpu, It's the new 'Go' revision meaning it runs cooler and requires less power. New x38 chipset motherboard which has support for Intel's next generation of Core2's due to be released late next year (1600fsb). It also has pci-express 2.0 sockets. Version 2.0 of this socket basically allows twice the bandwidth of the existing 1.0 interface, meaning you're also covered for up and coming graphics card's. Whilst it does have dual 16x sockets, these aren't for SLI, the board doesn't support it. But if you ever want to go dual monitor, and still have the power, then you're covered here also. Granted it's DDR2 support but it natively supports upto DDR2 PC8000 (1200mhz) although this ram is still very very expensive. I didn't got a DDR3 board because a decent set of 1gb dimms will set you back around £200-£250 more than the ram quoted. As you've really got to take latency's into account with current DDR3, and you'll need ( reckon) DDR3 1600mhz to offset the high latency's current DDR3 ram has (CL7-CL9). Yes, latency's in ram don't mean a whole lot to Core2 setups but those are getting silly slow and as it's a gaming rig you want a good response. As you can see it's 1066mhz ram, considering the cpu is a quad it's the best speed to go for. Card is the card of choice at the mo. I've ordered the same one if that makes any difference ![]() ![]() Pci-e 2.0 interface, very good gpu speed, nice ram speed, and not a bad price. Could've gone for a higher speed card but that would have pushed the price up further and you really don't need anymore than this at the resolution of the monitor you're going for. Future proofed on the psu as well. And it's a simply outstanding psu, especially when paired with the digital monitoring on the motherboard. Seriously, you can't do better than Enermax. They throw out, consistently, absolutley superb power supply's. Lastly, you're obviously future proofed on the o.s. If i've missed anything shout up. Hope this is helpful Jack.

| Also forgot to ask, how does this set-up compare to the rig we were looking at on overclockers? |

Out of the two though I'd be going for the Samsung purely from a specs point of view and it's only £20 odd more. The postage for the spec I quoted was £12.92. But I included this in the total price.

Granted at stock speed the cpu speed on the Overclockers build will trounce the quad, but again, looking forward, the quad is the cpu to go for as multi-threaded games become more mainstream. It means the upgrade path is left for that much further in the future. But forgetting about the speeds of the cpu's for the moment the quad build will still be better for gaming due to the gpu at the resolution quoted. Just my opinion as I don't have both in front of me available for benchmarking (mores the pity....) Either system will handle, and I do mean handle, ANY game at the resolution of the screen.
