| No ... but it might get the machine booted.

If it does you may be able to install the driver for your USB PCI Card and use the USB Keyboard I know its a long shot, but worth a try. My System: Home Build

| I think I just figured out what the problem is. I only have one PS/2 socket which I think is for a mouse and not a keyboard. The socket for the keyboard is an older one named D-subminiature. Here is what I exactly have (The left socket is for mouses and right one for keyboards): ![]() I still have the mouse that can fit in there but I don't have the keyboard. My BIOS probably doesn't even know the existence of usb so it doesn't recognize my usb card and keyboard. So is there anything I can do from there? |

| I would invest in a new motherboard. It is called a "DB25" connection.

| This must be a very old machine. Where did it come from a museum ![]() The left hand socket looks to me like an old serial mouse socket, it's not a not a PS/2 You could get an adaptor : ![]() As for the right socket .... are you sure that's for a keyboard ? .... it looks suspiciously lik a Parallel Port to me. |

| Quote : " Here is what I exactly have (The left socket is for mouses and right one for keyboards)": .... this suggests to me he may be confusing the Serial port with a PS/2 port. He may have a PS/2 mouse port as well, but this is not clear. A parallel port is an old style printer port |

| Thanks but I already knew .I would upgrade the motherboard as it is apparent that there are no adapters for the DB-25 connection, I doubt there are any headers on the motherboard so that a USB PCI card can be installed. Either that or try getting hold of a keyboard with a DB25 Male connection. |

| I think it may be a good idea if cope posted the specs of this machine, or at least the Make/Model and year of manufacture .... then we can all stop guessing |

| My projects for that computer were to make a print server, file server and a web server. Its the only computer I was able to find at home that still works(not counting the one I'm using on daily basis). I have one which is more recent that would be way better but the memory is dead. But I think it would be simpler if I would get some memory for this one. Thanks a lot for your all help, Cope |
