Default Laptop Fault

I have had an ongoing problem with my Acer Aspire 9500 laptop. First the keyboard starts playing up, keys not working then it just packs up. It is in for repair for the third time. First time it was returned in the same condition, second time it worked for a few months then the same thing happened. Each time it is away for around two weeks leaving me stranded. If the fault is not fixed this time what are my rights? How many times can be considered reasonable to return it for repair before I could ask for it to be replaced? Any advice please. :(

Trading standards are the best people to speak to as far as your rights go.

Personally I'd replace the laptop now so you stop being messed around or even worse lose all your data when it really mucks up. Go for one that has good reviews and doesn't come up with a list of faults when doing a simple Google search.

Other than those precautions the is no real way to knowing your getting a reliable model, even trusted brands design a dud every now and then.

Dave.
