| All of a sudden the finger pad on my laptop does not seem to work properly. When I double-click an icon or an item in the start menu a drop down box appears instead of running the program. (The double click check box is marked under the folder options.) I've also noticed the cursor not working correctly in Excel and Goggle Earth. Also, the right laptop button also does not seem to work for cut, copy, past. Is this a Windows setting I'm missing or could it be a hardware problem? Thanks |

| that sounds more like hardware failure. i've heard of a lot of laptop finger pads going bad. my brother had a toshiba laptop that had a touch pad where if you even so much as touched it, it would crash the machine.

maybe you'd be best off using a usb laser mouse instead. using touch pads is such a pain. i never use it because you have much freer movement with a mouse and you're less likely to have hardware failures like what you're getting. have it looked at by someone qualified to fix the pad, or just whip out a usb mouse.
