The only one I would warn you against is the UK brand advent--mine over heated and the disk was totally corrupted within a few months.

My favorites are the Sony VIOs, some people say they are not good machines but I think they are just as good as getting an Alienware as a PC. but if I had to go with tested, most trusted name it would definatly be HP Compaq.

I recently bought a Toshiba after hearing a salesperson in Costco say that they were probably the best... And realizing that Costco doesn't carry Toshiba.

It depends what yo uare looking for in a laptop. If you want a pure gaming laptop, go for the Alienware or VooDoo madels. If you just want something for leisure or work, I personally think Vaio have the best laptops as well as computer out there. It's more of a personal choice actually, but I'd recommend that you stay away from Dell.

I think Dell laptops are overall really nice. Dell offers great prices and the systems perform very well. If you are going for only gaming, then Alienware is definately the top choice. But they are very expensive.

I on the other hand, went with a Macbook. There are less games to play on it, but the performance is unmatched.
