im going to use a HDMI to DVI cable about 3-5m but im wondering wether to splase out get gold plated connectors or just get standard ones

Oh and standard connectors will be fine, unless you have the extra money and/or have to have the best.

Also it depends on your other equipment, if it's budget, cables don't really matter.

For example when I had my studio it was full of expensive speakers and amps etc. Would have been silly to then scrape on the connectors.
