Wattage of power supplies doesn't matter and you're best off with a single 5850 or 4890.

Yeah, get a single one. Your 9500GS is on the same socket as the 5850/4890 would be, pop the rusty 9500GS out, stick the new card in, install drivers, have fun.

If you NEED 2 graphics cards (Nobody does this day and age) then you'd need a new motherboard. Hardly worth it considering the success the I5 is having right now..

Windows wouldn't like all the hardware changes either, you'd have to call MS and have words about re-activation, so people say.

Not getting the 5870 at all and saving the money to buy vast amounts of cookies.

In all seriousness, nobody needs SLi/Crossfire today. Save up, get the 5870 now or the 5850 and enjoy a fast PC for a long time.

If you want to upgrade to I5, look at Carbon's shiny new guide in the general hardware section. He has an I5 PC in there on the second post that has good components all the way. Relatively cheap too. Just scrap the case and optical if you want to reuse your current things. Your PSU might just cut it too, not sure on that though.

Looks good but see if you can switch down to the 8xx series of I7 on an LGA 1156 socket. They are far cheaper, almost as fast and the I7's still support hyper threading. If you're gaming, get an I5 on the LGA1156 socket. Save even more money, perhaps enabling the purchase of a 5870.

Not the best, read over some of the more expensive ones here.

Two sets of 4GB is usually cheaper.
