| Ok.. first off its not hard never even think that in your mind or you will fail. What you will need Motherboard (main board of the computer) CPU (central processing chip) Power Supply (lol) Chasis (the case to put it all in) Hard drive (storage stuff) Memory (ddr ram prolly random access memory for temporary program use) Video Card (if one is not on your motherboard) DVD drive (self explanitory) Then you put it all together with some fans to make it all not overheat and voala a computer May I suggest newegg.com or your local computer parts retail store. The way you put them all together is by way of cables (Trust me the cables are all unique and so pretty much impossible to put the wrong cable in or in the wrong direction and a screwdriver (not hard) to screw the mobo onto your chasis Also try a keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, and a printer is a good idea as well. And yes the for dummies series does have a "how to build a computer" book Finally with every CPU and motherboard comes with an instruction manual on how to do so. | Price is always what you pay for it.... (what i mean) You can buy a supercomputer with the newest intel quad core qx6800 and have a nice computer yours only for around $3,000 or you can buy lesser parts and have an entire computer cost about $400. Depends.. now the shop that makes custom comps. They basically sell you all the equipment then add like $100 to the bill to put it all together (about a 45 minute job) now the installation of the operating system. If you get it from them you pay FULL price for that darn os. If you illegally download it yourself its free :-p and if you buy it and install it yourself its also full price so thats also something to know. newest vista will add like 400 to $800 USD to the equation (need to convert it to your local currency if it applies Last edited by dice14u : 19-12-2007 at 12:06 AM. |

| If you tell us what you want it for we could tell you which parts to save your money on. For example you wont want a quad core CPU and 2GB RAM if your going to use it to just surf the web.

Ask them anyway CS. The cost to you (try www.newegg.com for your components, can get mail-in cash-back on a lot of components on there) will be dependent on the components you purchase. The components you purchase will depend on your need. All this will vary the cost. Are you a gamer? Are you going to be doing CAD/video editing work? Just general office/internet usage? If you're a gamer, the resolution of the monitor you choose is a major factor in spec'ing a graphics card, and a cpu to go with it so it doesn't cause any bottlenecks. Air cooling? Water cooling? Overclocking? We need to know if the screen/keyboard/mouse and speakers are to be included into the budget range you quoted, and the resolution of the monitor you want/have before being able to advise further. Also, the choice of o.s (operating system) comes into it. Vista is much more resource hungry than XP.
