Hello All
A mate has given me an ASUS A8N-SLI Premium motherboard with a 2.2GHz processor. I thought it would be a case of just swapping my old one for his but I think not. I tried it but all I got was whats on the pics attached. I selected start windows normally but it just kept returning to the same screen. Safe mode did much the same. I reset the bios back to default ( I think) using the jumper on the board but I still got the same. Do I need to format the HD and start from scratch ( re-install windows xp) or am I wasting my time?
Hope someone can help.
Thanks
Keefy

You must have an OEM WinXP. It does not allow a transfer to another system which it regards a mobo change as. Instead of a fresh install you could try a repair install. You will need your XP key when prompted. If a repair install doesn't work a fresh install may be the only solution.

It's driver related.

Swapping a mobo is like a heart transplant.

Boot off the XP CD and do a repair.

I'm posting a reply so that I might be able to eventually ask a question on this site.

Mobbo swap will nearly always bring this up like Dave says heart transplant (like the analogy) if repair doesn't work format and reinstall.
