You may want to look at some good high capacity drive manufacturers. Avoid 5400RPM drives, just makes waiting for something a bit longer. Get 2 or so 1Tb drives at 7200RPM. Samsung SpinPoint F1's are about £80 per tb, they're fast too.

Let us know how the build goes?

Don't bother with DDR3 nor the T version of that motherboard, just get the regular one with DDR2. PSU could be better, HDD could be a lot better (WD 1TB). Otherwise it looks fine.

So get a different version of the same motherboard? Will I need to get different memory with DDR2 too then? Also, do you think its worth getting a Graphics card and a sound card? Thanks!

That motherboard can do HD content fine, no need for discrete graphics.

Sound stuff is a different story.

In the case of using this with a TV, all sound stuff will be handled by the TV's DAC unless you're hooking this straight to speakers (i.e. going DVI to the TV and 3.5mm or something out to speakers).

In the case of using this with a monitor, as far as hookups you should have everything you need even for surround. If the speakers you're using are really high-end there may be use for a sound card but otherwise onboard should be sufficient.

I suggest http://www.ebuyer.com/product/166785 for memory and http://www.ebuyer.com/product/170281 for motherboard. That should save you quite a bit.

Thanks, I'm going to order these today. Im in two minds whether to get the blu ray drive or just get a DVDRW drive and buy a ps3 from here instead http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStatio...D/Product.html

Thoughts?!

Cheers, Steve

Oh didn't see that - you don't need blu-ray burning so http://www.ebuyer.com/product/172638 should work.

Well if you want HD content both are fine but that PS3 (The VERY one I wanted) is at a stunning price and you get all the PS1, PS2 and PS3 games that you want. You could get a TV card and input the PS3 to your monitor through your PC.

EDIT: Didn't read from the starting post, nevermind.

Next concern...

My plan is to have my pc, ps3 and sky box and connect them to a TV (maybe this one.. http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...archtype=genre)

Apparently, some motherboards/graphics cards wont display the pc desktop correctly on a TV monitor (i.e. shift the icons to the left part way off the screen).

Can anyone advise me on this as I am looking to buy this motherboard... http://www.ebuyer.com/product/170281

Will this work OK with the TV from play.com (above) or will I need a different motherboard or graphics card?

Thanks!

Steve
