Phew, glad i got that BSOD sorted.
My first PC build went worryingly pear-shaped recently. Could not get my Vista 64bit to install correctly. Kept getting BSOD after anything between 5 seconds and 5 minutes on my desktop!!! My system CPU: E6600 MOBO: ASUS P5N-E SLI, RAM: Corsair XMS2, http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/T...048-6400C4.pdf GPU: Geforce 9600GT Anyways, hardware seemed to install correctly. It was installing Vista 64bit i had issues with. After trying the RAM in different slot combinations i was left wondering what the hell was up with my system. A freind at work, who knows what they are doing (fortunatly for me!) had a look at it and realised that the BIOS version on my MOBO was very old, specifically version 0401. He had to flash my BIOS with a floppy through MS-DOS, updating it to the latest version, which was 1201 i think. This, i am glad to say, totally cured my BSOD problem ![]() Happy days ![]() Thought this may be of help to some. Thanks |

and Spencer, some motherboard now (atleast all gigabyte ones so maybe other makes too) support updating the BIOS from within Windows, or from a USB stick.

Make sure you get the latest WHQL drivers for your nVidia GFX card Mr77. Vista 64 gets sqirrely without the latest drivers.
