Surprised noone has said this, so I'm wondering if I'm gonna get my head bitten off -

But I'm sure AVG is particularly notorious for slowing systems down? I know Norton does for sure, and the older AVG's did, is it any better these days?

If I were you I'd uninstall all that and just use Avast, it's simple and free, very effective and doesn't slow your system down horrendously.

Also, have you ever reformatted and reinstalled? If you havn't I'd recommend doing that, my brothers laptop (which has gradually been handed down and is about 5 years old, was very slow as you can imagine, never been reinstalled, heaps of old files, only 256MB RAM.

So I reformatted and then installed XP Pro (It had Home before) and it works so much faster, still only 256MB

So theres hopefully a little persuasive story to get you to reformat every once in a while (More often than every 5 years though!)

Have you noticed any difference in speed before Installing software and after installing if yes then this is because of software and also remember when you install some antivirus will afect the speed of your computer.
