I'm tryin to figure out whats wrong with my computer but it's kinda hard ro diagnose with out being able to turn it on. It's vista and was working fine then the blue screen popped up you know saying if this is the first time you've seen this restart your computer, so I held down the power button to turn it off waited and when I turn it on the lights turn on the fan runs, can open the cd drive but nothing comes on screen. I hooked up the monitor to another computer it works switched power cords, opened it up everything looks good but I don't know where to go from here as in fixing it I haven't really had to deal with this.

Is the screen completely dead ? Can you boot into bios ?
if you have a Vista Installation Disk, can you boot with that ?
Do you know if the Graphics are on board or a seperate card ?

The screen is completly dead it's as if it's getting no signal but it's getting something because once I disconnect from the tower it says no signal but when it's connected it's just blank so there is no way to get into bios and I tried putting linux live in to see if it would boot from that and still nothing I'm in the process of replacing the psu because of easter I was unable to get one

I wasn't doing anything that I've haven't done since I got my copmuter two years ago. I play online poker, chat rooms, message boards emails, games, music, movies. I went on it was working fine I went to check my email then it came up and since I never seen the screen before I turmed it off. What did your friend do to fix it? everyone has laptops so I'm getting a psu in a day or too to see if it's that but if not what can or should I do.

If the new PSU doesn't help, post back and we can take it from there.

This happened to me about a month ago. It was the video card. you could hear the tower working but there was just nothing but a blank screen.
