Default My computer will not boot at all

You say you were grabbing updates and stuff. Are you sure when you were browing the Internet downloading things a virus didn't get in? This is why I ALWAYS install AV software on a machine before I even connect to the Internet and download windows updates.

Default My computer will not boot at all

I could be wrong but i think i am having trouble with my graphics card. Because my screen has gone blank but the the lights on the tower are still on the the orange light flickers when i load a disc in the drive. And i was connected through ethernet to my laptop at the time and i was still seeing packets being sent and recieved in the LAN connection for quite a while afterwards(stopped now). I don't know if that still happens when a computer freezes up but i would have thought the packets would stop being sent.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I was networking my pc and laptop again and this time when my computer froze. The laptop which was uncompressing a file stored on the desktop aborted because of the freeze.

i have recently replaced my motherboard (A7N8X deluxe), with the exact same model. I have connected all the cables in the exact same way and all the jumper settings are exactly the same. But my computer will not even get to the beeping stage and my monitor will not pick up any output from the computer, but all the hard drive and power are running and working (you can hear the hard drive running), when i reconnect my old motherboard then everything runs as normal. Does anyone know why this happening.

well if it is not the motherboard, the psu or the ram then i would suspect the graphics card if it is not onboard?

Either that or as somebody mentioned your CPU...how old is the computer?

Just because you got a new mobo does not mean that the problem is not coming from one of your older parts, infact it basically proves that the problem lies within a component that you have yet to replace.

That maybe so but why doesn't my new mobo even get to the stage that my old mobo gets to. Since i spent £58 on the mobo i would really like to get that working rather then buy more components. I do not want 2 buy a new computer until next year so i really want to get this old one up and running add to this my laptop has gone down on me. I am really not in the happiest of moods i am using work, and family internet to post on these forums which is taking its toll. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me find out where this new mobo is going wrong.

Would it have anything to do with XP not recognizing the new hardware or because its a different configuration?
