I recently just built a new computer

Parts in the computer:
Asus M2N-E SLI Motherboard
AMD Athlon X2 AM2 4800+
8600GT 512MB
1GB Samsung ram
250gb WD SATA hard drive
Antec 480 Watt

So heres the problem, when i boot my computer (power supply is fine), everything is powered up (hard drive spins, graphics card fan spins) but the CPU fan only spins for 3 seconds then stops. There is no output onto my monitor (so i cant get into the bios, and yes the monitor works fine). There are no beeps from the PC speaker (yes i have connected it) and yeah i am having some trouble figuring out what the problem is.

Though i have a rough idea on what may the problem: CPU is dead? Motherboard is shorting or dead? (recently just got it replaced, so this shouldnt be the problem) or graphics card is dead? or psu isnt good enough?

need some help desperately, thanks in advance

I'd try another PSU mate, text book symptoms of a dodgy PSU.

ive got a 24 pin connector on the psu

but ive noticed that there is also a 4 pin connection on the mobo, does that need to be plugged in? because seems like that may be important.

so yeah ive got a cable in the 24 pin one, but the 4 pin is empty? is this normal?

That's the 4-pin connector for the cpu. You absolutely do need a 4-pin ATX plug (12v) from psu connected to this.

Thats why the cpu fan is spinning up and then stopping. It's powered itself up through the 3pin header on the motherboard (which is powered by the 24pin).

And please, double check the rest of your build.

Maybe, but i doubt it considering the brand (and wattage) of your psu.

Exactly which model Antec psu do you have?
