Except one end is FireWire?

Yep, but mines generic brand.

Yeah sure, well if it didn't come with any software, then you want to open up and run Windows Easy Transfer as I mentioned earlier.

What OS are you running?

I'll look that Easy Transfer up right after I post this reply.
I'm running Windows XP Home 2002 with Service Pack 3

I looked at the Easy Transfer. Windows say that its to transfer files and settings bla bla bla to a computer with Vista on it.
Not quite what I need.

I don't quite understand what you're trying to achieve then?

I have a recording interface (To record music) which uses firewire.
I thought my computer had a firewire port. Turns out it doesn't.
I bought a PCI firewire card, but my video cards cooling fan and heatsink are covering up my spare PCI slot.
So I bought this cable so I could just use one of my USB ports.
My only other option is buying a PCI-E x1 firewire card which are rather expensive in Aus.

Ok, I understand now.

But you'll probably need drivers for the recording interface, not the cable.

Any discs with it?

EDIT:
Sorry, I realise we're going round in circles now it's just I've been responding to a fairly similar thread (well the title I think) and got a bit confused.

Try here

The drivers for the Firepod are installed. I have installed everything needed for the firepod. It is the cable that is at fault as I have tried it with other devices and I get the same error.
