Hey guys to start off with, here are my specs


Asus a8n sli deluxe motherboard
Corsair XMS 2x1GB sticks in slot 1 and 3
Opteron 185 Dual core 2.6
EVGA Geforce 8800GTS
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty
raptor 74gb 10,000RPM Hard drive
I also have 2x1TB external Phantom hard drives connected through Esata
OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU

My problem:

My system has been randomly crashing in various ways these past few months but i honestly have not had time to try and fix it till recently.

Often times, my system locks up, and if i leave it alone for about 2 minutes, it will unlock and begin to run fine again from where i left off. But sometimes, it will lock up, and then give me the BSOD :(
After it does boot up, i lose everything i did since my PC last "safely shut down"

this happens sometimes several times throughout the day or some days it does not even happen at all. I researched a little bit and found out that it could be insufficient memory. I also read that it can be USB conflicts with another hardware.


Not only does my system crash, i also have problems with it on boot up. I have several devices connected through USB such as a webcam, microphone
and mp3 player. If i have those connected, the system will gives me some jiberish letters and numbers and windows will not load. If i have ONLY my keyboard and mouse (which are also connected through USB) connected, then it boots fine.


any ideas?...ANY help is greatly appreciated~

What's the BSOD?

The USB problems make me think it's the motherboard.

Do you lose all the problems if you unplug all usb devices except mouse & keyb ?
