There may be a way to actually boot XP on a standard 360, though.

Erm.. that was the plan..?

I'm confused now what are you saying won't work - XP on 360 components or replacing 360 components with PC ones?

The 360 OS on a standard PC will be inoperable. XP on a 360 is technically possible but would be enormously difficult and will take more than just installing it on the hard drive.

Yeah, buy a PlayStation and run Linux off it, use a VM to run Windows. It has been done!

As far as a 360 goes, I'd be damned careful with them. They seem to break easily enough as it is without you fiddling around trying to get XP on there.
