Hi, i have a IBM ThinkCentre S50 8429-KG7. its a small form factor office type pc, anyway over the past few days i have noticed it getting very hot, and also the fans have been running at full speed trying to cool the cpu down. this pc only has two small fans inside it which suck air through the front vents and blow onto the cpu. ths cpu does not have a stand alone fan attached to it, this is how it was when i bought it.

anyway i need to cool this thing down before i cause any damage. can anybody reccomend a fan, please bare in mind i have very limeted space to mount it though.

thanks.

please see link for pictures of the pc

if you go through the pictures you will see the internals, and if you notice there are two fans at the front and then there is the cpu with a heatsink.

Looks like standard 80mm fans there, you could probably swap them out with anything aftermarket.

Also, you could dremel out a 120mm on the top :p

ok well as stated above you can get aftermarket fans but the chances are you will need to re-seat the cpu cooler with some decent thermal paste (arctic cooling mx-2)

As per the OP there _is_ no CPU cooler. That part is passive.

Ah, I see it now. Looks like it's bolted on somehow though (see http://images.tigerdirect.com/SkuIma...56-3254-na.JPG), so that may not be an option.
