i have a e machine t3612 an it came with vista installed on it,an i recently took it off an installed windows xp onto it.
now the problem is my pc is not picking up my arris cm550 modem.but wen i hook up my fren motorola modem install the driver ...

now the problem is my pc is not picking up my arris cm550 modem.but wen i hook up my fren motorola modem install the driver it works perfectly i can get on the net.i used the arris cd to install the driver but nothing is happening.i tried to use the ethernet cable nothing an matter of fact if i use the ethernet cable from the motorola modem am useing now it dosen't work either.i am using a usb cable to make it work.can some tell me what the problem is with my arris cm550 modem or what do i need to do to install it |

you could always try using the working modem to get newer drivers from the site of the manfacturer. its a low possibility but it could be incompatible with XP since you have a Vista built machine. lastly try going into your control panel and in the system section look for device manager and see if you get the alert triangle, double click anything with that triangle and let XP go browisng for its own drivers.
