Me or Alex can do this for you no problem.

I am working right now but will do it when I get a free moment later.

    Unless Alex comes along first.

    Cheers.

    Dave.

    Morning Necromancier.

Yeah, i'd be happy to spec you a system.

But i need to know what the primary use of the system will be. Gaming, general office/internet etc.

If you could advise that and i'll come back to you as soon as i can.

    Cpu: Intel Core2 E6320 - £115.
    Mobo: Abit IL9 Pro - £55.
    RAM : Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-5400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) - £68.
    Gpu: BFG GeForce 8600 GTS OC 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI - £140.
    Hdd: Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - £45.
    Optical drive: Pioneer DVR-112DBK - £22.
    Case: Antec 900 - £65.
    Monitor: Belinea 1925S1W 19" Widescreen - £115.
    PSU: Enermax Liberty 400w modular - £47

    Other items:
    Arctic silver 5 thermal paste - £6
Arctic Cooling Freezer7 pro HSF (HeatSink & Fan) cpu cooler - £15
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic 32-Bit Edition DVD - £57
    Speakers: Creative Inspire T3100 2.1 Speakers - £32
    Keyboard: Logitech Cordless Desktop S 510 - £35
    Mouse: Included in the above.

Total cost: £817. All specced from one site (saving on carriage charges). www.overclockers.co.uk

Its DX10 ready with the gpu and Vista.

The card isn't ideal but considering the monitor quoted is basically 1280x1024 stretched to fit a widescreen format (1440x900) you won't have a problem. Plus BFG have partially got around the lousy memory bit-width (128) by fitting very fast ddr3 ram (1000mhz) so 2000mhz effective.

DO NOT scrimp on the psu, its tempting to do just this because its one of the less 'cool' components but i cant emphasise enough just how important a good quality, stable, efficient psu is to a computer.

Some of the stuff i've quoted is just personal preference, and me trying to keep you within budget (the keyboard/mouse combo for instance) so you could potentially save some money going another route.

The case is an awesome one for the money, comes with 2x 120mm intake, 1x120mm exhaust and a top 200mm fan. You can also fit (have to buy separately) a side 120mm to push some airflow over the graphics card.

the hsf is about the best on the market for air cooling (and one of the cheapest). It's also well within motherboard stress limits for a HSF (something not many can say).

Nice to see someone else with the build bug. I've said it before but theres such a sense of achievment when the build is all said and done and it all works.

Besides, we can talk you through any problems, so what have you got to lose? You still get a warranty, albeit on each individual component.

Hope the above helps, i've tried to stick as closely as possible to your budget and your preference for DX10.

heya alex thankyou very much for taking the time to do that for me.
i was wondering. to maybe save a bit more money. i could use a different less expensive case with an already fitted psu? if i save the extra cash i could maybe fit an nvidia 8800?
or maybe an e6600 core 2?

    I wouldn't recommend using a generic psu with a 8800 series gpu.

Infact, I wouldn't recommend using a generic psu full stop to be honest.

At it's core spec (non-overclocked on the gpu, ram or stream processors) the 8800 can draw from 250watts from a psu (for the GTS, the GTX is upwards of 300).

I'll try and spec a different build for you (not a problem :) ) but if you want an E6600 and a 8800 card the pc will be compromised in other areas.

    But i'll do my best!

    Leave it with me.

    Cpu: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 - £153.
    Mobo: Abit IL9 Pro - £55.
    RAM : Crucial 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-4200C4 - £59
    Gpu: BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI - £183.
    Hdd: Maxtor Diamondmax 20 160GB STM3160211AS SATA-II 2MB Cache - £35.
    Optical drive: LiteON DH-18A1P-018C 18x DVD±RW x12 Ram Dual Layer DVD-Writer - £18.
Case: Asus TA-210 Series Midi Tower (Black) - No PSU - £26.
    Monitor: Belinea 1925S1W 19" Widescreen - £115.
    PSU: Enermax Liberty 400w modular - £47

    Other items:
OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic 32-Bit Edition DVD - £57
    Speakers: Logitech S200 2.1 Black/Silver Stereo Speakers - OEM - £14
Keyboard: Logitech Deluxe Keyboard (Black) - OEM - £7
    Mouse: Creative Fatal1ty 1010 1600 DPI Gaming Mouse - £17

    Wahey! :D Total cost: £786.

The core components are still rather good, shame I couldn't find a better case for you but that Asus? It ain't half bad for the money.

As you can see I've removed the Freezer7 pro and Arctic Silver TIM as well, so this is spec'd using the stock Intel HSF that comes with the E6600.

I'm also not so keen on the fact the hdd is just 160gb, but you can always change this. A 250gb will only cost an extra £10 or so, which will still keep you within your budget.

Obviously the choice is yours regarding the psu. But, again, I strongly recommend against it.
