Is this pc worth the money?
If not can anyone suggest a better alternative by maybe posting a link to a pc or posting specs.
Cheers!

It's ok for the money when taking into account all the peripherals (speakers, screen etc).

But the main unit has it's faults.

A Dual card setup will only give you the performance boost in SLI enabled games, comparatively speaking these are few and far between. So most of the time you'll be gaming on a single card. That card, when you're gaming on games coded for a single card, will struggle at the resolution of the screen.

The ram will strangle the quad due to it's lack of bandwidth. You'll really need at least 800mhz ram when you've a quad in your build, 1066mhz if at all possible and budget allows.

The motherboard has a lousy chipset, 650i is nothing to write home about.

If you're not gaming, ignore everything I've said. But I'm guessing you are due to going for dual graphics cards.

Thanks mate you saved me buying that. No point if what you said is true.
Can you give me specs that you think are good? I have a £900-1000 budget.
cheers

Should I not get the Quad core 6600?
Would I be able to go with the core 2 and then later upgrade to the quad core without replacing motherboard etc?

You can go quad if you want, no harm in it. Future proofing your pc has never been a bad thing.

But there's not many (as in about 4 now I think) games that are coded for multiple physical cpu's. It took 3 years for gaming on dual's to take off.

Plus, the E6750 is an awesome cpu. Second best dual out there.

Yup, should you go the E6750 route you could upgrade to a quad later down the line. Same physical size/pins etc and the board will handle any current Intel cpu.

The same build from the same site with the E6850 was £996.

The same build from the same site with the Q6600 was £982

But for a quad core gaming build I'd recommend faster ram and a slightly more powerful psu than the one quoted orginally. So, the same Q6600 build but with 1066mhz ram and a 700w psu (they don't do 650w) from the same site was £1087.

If it was me? and I was after a gaming build? It'd be the E6850 build. No better cpu, quad or otherwise, currently being made for gaming usage.

You have to beef the build up slightly for a quad to get the best out of the system, this then means extra cost. No point going quad if you're not going to enable it to run at it's best.

Granted the majority of games are gpu dependent (and I've spec'd you the card of choice at the moment) but a good cpu prevents any bottlenecks.

Taken into consideration what you have said about beefing up the system to assist the Quad does this system do that?
My main concern is future proofing my pc so that's why I have gone quad.
