Default New build, black screen.

I had a Dell desktop in the past, but I never used to call it a Dell anymore since I had made numerous modifications. This time I decided to give it a new motherboard and a new CPU to speed things up a little. My build;

- Asus P5K.
- Q6600.
- Nvidia 8600GTS.
- 4GB ram (4x1GB - Kingston).
- WD HDD (160GB @ 7200rpm).
- Antec TruePower (450W).
- fan, cd drive, etc..

I thought I had sucessfully assembled everything, but apparently not since every time I try to turn on my computer (w/ a paperclip since I have no case yet), my screens stay black.

I have connected the 24-pin and the 4-pin power on my motherboard, I have connected the 4-pin power to my graphics card, I think I did it all. My hard drive does turn on, I can open up my cd drive and my CPU fan also turns... but my screen stays black.

I have tried to use a different graphics card, same result. Could anyone help me troubleshoot this problem, tell me what might be wrong?

Do you not even get the BIOS screen? Or is it afterwards you get a blank screen cos the OS is invalid?

I don't even get the BIOS screen, I get nothing at all. When I turn on my monitor all it says is "No input".

Do you have XP 32bit? 4Gb RAM is more than it will handle.

Also eegit check: have you plugged the monitor into onboard graphics by mistake? Is the fan running on your graphics card? Any beeps at startup?

Ohhh oops. After having taken a closer look at the memory (was going to take 1 stick out) I noticed it's only 553Mhz... whilst the motherboard only takes 800 and over.

Darnnn, sorryy for my noobishness guys lolll.

Well one way or another we got to the bottom of it! We all do stupid things sometimes!

Looks like you have 4Gb of memory for sale!
