Hey!
I just built my own pc.
it has a 160GB Western Digital Hard Drive
A Samsung WriteMaster DVD Writer
An ASUS P5SD2-VM Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400
1GB Kingston DIMM
An Nvidia Ge Force 9500GT Card
A 400W PSU

So here's the problem. After I finished building it, I just connected the monitor, keyboard and mouse, and the PSU.
Now as i connected the cable to the PSU, this LED on the motherboard turned on and this kind've soft buzzing sound started coming from the PSU. I then pressed the POWER ON button, and it turned on. The CPU fan was spinning, the hard disk was on (I could hear it) and even the heatsink fan on the Nvidia 9500GT was on. But nothing appeared on my monitor, and I didn't even hear the boot-up BEEP sound. I disconnected the monitor, tried again, but the same thing happened.
I don't know what's wrong. I think its the PSU, but not really sure about it. I disconnected the DVD Writer and tried it, but still no luck.
I even disconnected the heatsink and processor and put it back on again, but nothing's happening.

I've checked the cables on the motherboard, they seem to be ok too.

ANy hep guys? Its really urgent.
ANd yeah, its the first time I've built a PC.

It does sound like a bad PSU, but recheck all your connections.
Double check the power and reset leads are connected correctly.

Also .... silly question maybe, but you did use the stand-offs for the motherboard ... yes ?

> A 400W PSU

Don't you think it might be a good idea to give slightly more information about the most likely point of failure?
