Apologies, one thing I didn't check was the voltage requirements for the ram. Bit remiss of me.

Anyway, 1.8v is the stock voltage that ddr2 ram requires but some requires more to run at a prescribed frequency. As an example, if you're running stock 800mhz ram and want it to run at say, 900mhz, you'll more than likely have to push more voltage through it to keep the higher frequency stable.

I'm a tad concerned the OCZ, at a speed of 800mhz, requires so much voltage to run at it's stock speed. There's many a manufacturer out there selling this speed ram running at the default voltage.

It suggest's (my concern) that these dimms were originally slower speed ram that has been factory overclocked, hence the higher voltage requirements.

Hmm, rather dubious now.

I'll try and find some different sticks of ram... Would it be faster to have 4 sticks of 512MB? Any recommended brands?

Would this be any good? Corsair Memory TWIN2X2048-6400C4 2x1GB 240-Pin DIMM XMS2-6400 CL4

Twinx is good.

Won't make any difference getting 4 512mb dimms.

Get CL5 if you can though, the slower timings will make no difference to the speed of the system due to the way the memory is controlled, and you might save a few quid.

Annoyingly the OCZ gold is cheaper than the Corsair stuff by about a tenner... :S
Also from the place I'm planning on getting all of this from (Dabs as I have had good experiences with them in the past) The CL4 is only about £5 more expensive, but gives me more flexibility should I choose to OC in the future...
