Default New build PC - Advice needed on chosen setup

Hi, this is going to be my first build PC, so bear with me if some of the items are rubbish/wrong - Just after general advice before i start buying stuff.

I did find a prebuild system so wondering if it's ok to list it here, here it goes;

CPU: AMD Athlon 4000+ X2 Dual Core 64 Bit
Memory: 2048MB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 RAM
Optical Media:DVD±RW 20x Speed Re-Writer with LIGHTSCRIBE + Nero
Hard Drive: 250GB Mega Massive Storage HDD SATA2
USB: 6 x USB 2.0 Ports (2 x front 4 x rear)
Network: 10/100/ M/bit LAN Broadband Ready
Sound: 7.1 Surround Sound 8 channel Audio
Video: Nvidia GeForce 8400GS 256>512MB Graphics Card
Case: Black Alien/Ninja Style Tower
Supports Front USB, Audio & Microphone
Includes Quality 2 x 12cm (Front & Rear) Whisper Quiet &
1 x 8cm Blue LED Side Panel Case Cooling Fans
Power PSU: Powerful 520 Watts with large 12cm quiet extractor fan.

GRAPHICS: XFX Nvidia GeForce 8400GS 512MB PCI-E

Motherboard: ALiveNF6G-VSTA

(If you had to price this, what you think it would cost? And is it a good gaming system?)

It doesn't come with a OS, but was thinking about buying Vista, but there is 2 bit versions, unsure what one to go with.

Sorry for the extreme noob questions guys but would be great if you could help me out. Going to be a big surprise in the new year for my son

Budget is around £300-350 and it's mainly for playing World of Warcraft. Just the main PC is needed. No monitor, mouse etc. is needed.

Thanks in advance, Kev

For playing WoW it's fine. The psu is overkill though. you'll require no more than a 400w one.

Please ensure the psu is of the decent variety, a lot of crashes and component failures can be attributed to lousy, generic psu's.

Makes to look at: Antec, Corsair, Coolermaster and Enermax.

My recommendation would be an Antec Basiq or Enermax Liberty.

Is this a build you've spec'd off a builders site? because the "mega massive" quote screams marketing hype.

Don't worry about being a "noob". Thats what forums are for.

Don't worry about it Kev. It's been doing this since we changed the post settings.

Hope you can help!

It's off a site that custom builds pc's for you but they're rather vague in the PSU brand department etc.

I tried to edit out as much of the hype i could, should of saw it post edit with the 'Super fast processor' etc. lol

I was just glad it didn't start off with a 'HI, MY NAMES BARRY SCOTT!'

Kev

P.S. Want to estimate a price for that setup then i'll reveal the true cost?

Pre-built, without o.s.

I'd expect a price in the £350-£375 region.
