Default new build problem

Hi
I'm at the end of my tether here and I'm praying someone can help.
I've installed a used working ASUS A8S-X mobo with an Athlon dual core processor, new Maxtor 120gb hd, 2 gb of ram, new XFX 8600GT graphics card. Installed XP, drivers etc with no problems and all seems to be working (using it now) but the problem is that the pc will not reset/reboot as it should. The cpu fan spins and the graphic card fan spins so it seems as evreything is on but the monitor. I'm sure it said "no signal". To get the pc up and running again I have to clear cmos and select F2 to load default settings. Hope you guys can help.
Thanks in advance.
Keith

Whats your psu?

Have you checked the seating of the graphics card in the port?

Reset switch cable correctly fitted to the mobo pins?

Well I'm still no further forward. This is what I've done so far:
swapped ram, tried a 600W psu, tried a new HDD, reinstalled xp but nothing made any difference. Now its worse than before. Reached 50% of formating HD then the monitor went off with a message "no signal". Everything on the board seemed to be working ie card, cpu fan. No display whatsoever now.
Can anyone out there shed some light on this please. I dont want to pull out more cash on a new mobo as the wife is moaning on a bit.
Thanks
