Hi there, I have just built a new gaming rig, but when I go to start it up it goes straight to a boot menu where I have the choice of pressing DEL to enter setup or pressing TAB to display BIOS POST screen.
However, when I go to press anything nothing happens, but the keyboard is lit up, meaning its connected properly. But as the hard drive doesn't have an OS loaded onto it, shouldn't it display the message "Could not load operating system" or something of that description? Also when it loads up it makes a single beeping noise from the computer's speaker, what does this mean? I have tried using two keyboards, one is a Hewlett Packard from my old computer with a PS/2 connection and the other is a Dell with a USB connection and the same occurs for both. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, PC Spec: ASUS P5N-E SLI Motherboard Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 Processor eVGA 8800GTS 320MB Superclocked 200GB Western Digital SATA Hard Drive Pioneer (Hewlett Packard) IDE DVD drive, (taken from old computer) Arctic Power 500W PSU |

You should check around in the bios, maybe it is deactivated in there

I can't get onto the BIOS setup though because the keyboard wont respond lol. I've cleared the CMOS RTC RAM to no avail.

Lol no worries, no it doesn't say. I think the computer may actually be crashing on the boot screen. If this is so, does it mean my PSU isn't powerful enough because it is a bit tacky or is it something to do with the graphics card?

If we could figure out what type of bios you are running, we will be able to find out what the beep code stands for

Yea it would help but I haven't got a clue. Do you reckon it could be the PSU locking up, because it's only 500W and only has a 12V rating of 18 amps where it's recommended for at least 26 for the graphics card?

I think after a little research your bios is an Award Bios, so you can check the beep code here
If you think it may be the GPU causing the problem, uninstall/remove it an use the onboard to boot off of

Thanks for the help but my beep code isn't on there lol. It's just a single beep when I turn it on. I'm gonna buy a new PSU and hope it's that taht was causing the problem. Thanks again for your help.
