You will only notice the difference in performace between the two graphics cards (512MB rarther than 1024MB) if you use a very large resolution, what resolution(s) are you planning to use on your monitor(s)?

Um, no you don't.

I've used plenty of Saphire 4870s and have never had a problem with them, likewise with there 4850s.

Yep, unless you're on 22" - 24" plus, then a 512MB will be fine.

Bubba, I think you misunderstand the Vista 64 bit issue. Should be no problem installing with all the RAM in there.

Really? what has changed? You had to in March, or you BSOD'ed before boot. LOL 15 re installs before I learned THAT one.

EDIT: Or did you mean that x86 will now recognise all 4 GB's of RAM?

Well, you may know something I don't, but I have Vista 64 installing on a PC with 8GB of RAM next to me now...

Dude, I had all KINDS of problems and EVERYONE said you have to install it with 2 GB's or less, get it in, do the SP1, then add the extra RAM. I did and everything worked fine after that. Are you doing a new build? Although I don't think that should matter.

Hard lessons you learn well, and this one was a hard lesson for me.

Well, it might have just been something to do with your motherboard maybe...

I've never had to do that and I've done lots or Vista 64 installs!

I just did some google research because I KNOW I'm not crazy. I guess that was a problem that got fixed with SP1 from the stuff I have read.

I dunno, I'll just STFU, everything I learned seems to be disputed by others so apparently I haven't learned anything. The problems I had and the solutions that fixed them were all just figments of my imagination.

Well, you are right, as my Google search has proven.

I think it must be because I had not really used Vista before SP1, because I shied away from it because of driver issues.

Or maybe I was just lucky.

It's not figments of your imagination, I remember reading something about it somewhere before aswell, however I don't have Vista and therefore I haven't done any installs so didn't look into it myself
