Default New Gaming/Workhorse build

Hi all,

I've decided it's time for a fresh start, so I'm building a new rig and would like feedback.

I want the rig to be a good gaming platform, but also a strong 3D workstation. I do a lot of high-polygon modeling and rendering using Cinema 4D, as well as image and video editing (Premier, After Effects and Photoshop).

I already have:
Monitors: Samsung Syncmaster T260 (Primary) and Syncmaster 204B (Secondary)
Input: Logitech G15 Keyboard & G5 Gaming Mouse
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 750
Video Card: Gigabyte GTX-275 896 MB

I'm looking to buy:

OS: Windows 7 (64-bit)
Mainboard: Gigabyte EX58-UD4P MB s(1366)
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz/8MB
RAM: Corsair TR3X6G1333C9 6GB (3x XMS3 2GB)
Hard Drives: 2x Seagate SATA2 500GB Harddisk 7200rpm (RAID)
Case: Antec P183 "Performance One" Black ATX

Once I've installed Windows 7 RC, I plan on plugging in my two old 500MB SATA drives and copying my old date across. Then I'll be able to hold onto the old drives for backup, or reformat them later to use as an additional RAID array.

How does this sound? Is any part of such a system woefully over/underpowered compared to the rest? Has anyone had troubles with any of the specific components I've mentioned?

Thanks :)

RAID isn't really going to help you here in any significant way, I would just grab a couple 640GB WDs and make frequent backups to your old 500GBs.

The rest looks fine for what you're doing with it, although you may want to save some money and go for DDR3-1066 as there is no performance decrease and it should be cheaper.

I'm also not sure if the P183 is compatible with regular ATX PSUs. If it's not and you don't want to pick up their (excellent, but expensive) new form factor Signature for it, you may look into the Cosmos 1000 or regular P182.
