Default New Hardware Message At Startup?

Hi
Just in the last week or so I've been getting the message...

New Hardware found

This message prompts me to install "Unknown" hardware using discs that may have come with this hardware.

I have no idea what this is asking me to install.

However I did try to reinstall some Leadtek software last week after I was having trouble (I kept getting a message that a library file (dll?) was missing) when I was attempting to use the Leadtek program (dvd creating/editing software).

Now everytime I "boot up" I get the "new hardware found" message.

Is there any way I can find out what hardware it's asking me about or just make it so I don't have to close (get rid of it) it out everytime?

Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure it means that one of the pieces of hardware within your computer doesn't have a driver. It will show this message on startup to encourage you to install the drivers required to use it, that's why it tells you to do this by using discs that may have come with the hardware.

You just need to find out what piece of hardware it is, and patch it up with the correct driver. Just be sure to properly get rid of the remnants of the old driver before you install the new one, otherwise you could get even worse problems.

Hope you get it working, good luck!

Thanks for the response.

Ya - that's the trouble I'm having - I don't know what hardware the message is referring to. I don't really have a lot of background in computers other than using it regularly and installing the odd software here and there. But, having said that, I can usually follow directions and get around in "computer world" okay.
That's good advice to make sure I get rid of the 'remnants" - I've been down that road.

Is there an easy way to find out what hardware the message is referring to? If I find that out I could just get the disc and patch in the driver - right?

More thoughts??

So have I my friend, so have I *shakes head*

Well, what was this Leadtek thing you were using? I presume it had something to do with your DVD burner? I'm not exactly sure whether DVD burners/players need drivers, but perhaps it's the culprit.

Probably best to post your system hardware, so we can have a good luck inside your computer.

Sorry - I was away from my pc for awhile .

Can I post my system hardware easily without looking through all my disks?

I don't exactly know if there is a way of doing... probably best to just use the diag function... I've never used it before so I'll be no help. Just find a way of getting your hardware and post back here.

Sorry!

I got it sorted out thanks.
I looked at my device drivers and there was a problem with my PVR software so I uninstalled and then installed the software. I don't get that "message" anymore, but my remote control for the tv won't wwork now GRRRRRRRR!
I've tried a few things like replacing the batteries and unplugging and plugging in the remote cable in the back of my pc. Nothing yet.

I've checked the device controller in the properties of MY COMPUTER and it says it's working.
Oh - well - I can live without the remote, but then again it's probably something simple and it should work.

Any ideas
