I dont think it is ,hmm it was one i got off ebay,it had a 3rd party fan heatpipe cooler attached to it, so never got to see the actual maker of the card.

Red PCB board anyways, would make me think its ATI, but i think someother companies are using red aswell :)

Says on box , ColaMax, but i never heard of them in my life

hmmm, ColaMax Radeon HD4850 she be :)

Or maybe thats the name of the fan/heatsink and the card is still ATI Radeon

1. ArMa II is bugged to shit and needs loads of patches, wait a few months till its complete
2. 260 isn't really much of an upgrade from the 4850 IMO
3. Wait a few months game will be fixed, ATI's 5000's cards will be out and cards you are looking at now will be far cheaper

Depending upon the ID of the card (Sapphire, HIS etc..) he should see decent performance. Might be struggling at a resolution, what resolution are you using there?

DONT get the Q8200. I did and had to OC to 2.7 to get decent CSS performance. Upped the DDR2 to 850MHz too, made a little difference. Your Q6600 is well good enough, better cache for multi tasking too.

Arent the ATi 49XX deries cards next? Or is that me?

Nope the 5000 series is next, the 4890 was released a few months ago and there is possibly a 4890x2 is coming too, but apart from that its the 5000 series which is due in September

Sounds awesome

Back on topic, I had a Sapphire graphics card with a red PCB, I think HIS use them.. Since ATi is associated with red, you'll find a lot of them in red and black..

Alot of them are blue lol
Sapphire use blue for their toxic versions of the 4800series I think

And Gigabyte and HIS do aswell :)

Blue?? BLUE? Sounds about right tbh..

After checking my card, you'll never guess what colour it is.. Yup, Blue.

On topic: Read Carbons guide, the GTX260 is rare, expensive and crap. The GTX 260 216 is a vast improvement but around the same performance as a HD4870 but the nVidia card costs a lot more.

Core I7 is little use at the moment for games, 8 threads sounds nice but it's whether a game can use them, a lot are designed for 2 or 4. Genuine multithreading might be a long way off, not too sure. The E8400 is a stellar chip, overclocks to the moon and back. The E8500 and E8600 are little more than bumps upwards on the E8400 in terms of clock speed, just make sure you get one with E0 stepping and you'll have a brilliant processor.

I think you have helped me to make my mind up now SW I hope those 5000 series comes soon cos i now have my eye on the HD4890 lol same price as the GTX260 and is on power with 275 & 285

I was not very impressed by the HD4850 performance compared to the likes of a 9600gt which is on paper a lesser card , yet i never seen any real improvement in the games.

I think i might try the HD4890 and sit it out with that card utill the newer gpu tech comes

LOL ! a blue pcb ati board ? i havnt seen one of those yet, always red , sapphire is blue?

Think al try out the 4890 and hope that is well good i heard that Arma 2 is loving the ATI cards, didnt love my HD4850 anyways

E8400 would be just perfect rather than spending out on E8500 only 13mhz difference anyways , Q6600 is a nice cpu ,i have running atm but i thought about changing to the new tech ones 8000 series with the 45nm process or now E8400 looking a good idea , the E8400 maybe be bit better than Q6600 for gaming

So if i was to go with E8400 make sure its E0 stepping?
