Hello,
I have built my first PC in the last month.
The PC I built:
Antec P182 Gunmetal Grey Super Mid Tower Case
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 SLACR 95W Edition"
Asus P5K-E WiFi Motherboard
BFG 8800gts 512mb
Crucial Ballistix 2GB 1066MHz(BL2KIT12864AA1065)
Serial ATA 200gb Hardrive
Hiper 580W Type-M Black PSU
SONY DVD-ROM DDU1613
NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A

The Problem i am having is with the computer shutting down and restarting it's self up straight away when i am gaming, seems not to do it when i am browsing the web or word processing.
The computer seeems to be running cool enough and once restarted i can start gaming again. I am running vista as my os.
Temps that pc is saying:
CPU- 43'c
MB- 35'c
Graphics 50'c

Another problem that has also just started is occasionally when I start my pc up all the fans start and can hear things going on inside pc but no signal is transmitted to screen. So I turn off pc and restart again and this will then boot to a screen saying overclocking failed reset bios, I do this and all is fine, even though I have not overclocked.
looking inside the pc and noticed the graphics card was making a strange noise it's not the fan sound as i stopped it briefly to check this, it's like a humming noise(hard to explain)
which was contantly going and the psu was making a noise like something shorting out or a static but came and went every couple of seconds, started writing this post and both have stopped together????

I was gaming with pc side case off and listened to the graphics card and it does make a lot of noice when under load, sounds like a harddrive running or cd rom loading (hard to explain), and this time i noticed my game freeze a few times for a fraction of a second just before computer crashed. i have never had a graphics card like this one before (BFG 8800 GTS) so unsure if the noises it's making is normal.
Not sure if these problems are linked.
Any help would be great as it's rarther fustrating. Thank you

Never heard of your PSU manufacturer, could just be a junk off-brand PSU not putting enough amps on your rails. I'd switch out the PSU/exchange the one you have, that will (probably) fix it.

As for the GPU noise, that could be it straining to work under the lower voltage. Switch out the PSU ASAP.

Ya I agree with Carbon, I have heard of Hiper before though. Take a look at this thread, it will help if you wanna get a different PSU. http://www.computer-juice.com/forums...ankings-14076/

Hiper is listed in tier 4, which means its not all that great.

I also agree with Carbon.
My friend actually spent alot of money on a new computer, but skimped and got a bargainbin PSU just because it was 550w.

He learnt the hard way..

WHAAAT...??? Coolermaster is only a Tier 4 brand? I'd thought they were one of the better brands to have in your system... Me needs new PSU I guess. (lol).

Thanks for the info m8. Hadn't come accross that tread yet.

Cheers:
Chris.
