heya guys.
new to the forums.

iv had experience with computers but not to the point where iv actually built one myself.
but im in the build bug and thought id give it a try.

iv got about £750 to spend, stretch to £800.
i want it primarily for gaming as my old comp hardly runs bf2 even when on low.
i want to be able to play the upcoming games like crysis etc.
i usually play at a res of 1024 by 768.

basically i need a full system
operating system, keyboard mouse.

i came up with some components, but wasnt so sure really on what to get. i got help from my younger brother lol.
heres the list. all from ebuyer.com

case:
Casecom Black Mid Tower Case - Front Blue LED 120mm Fan - With Side Window

main components::::::::::::::::::::::

PSU:
OCZ GameXStream 600W PSU - 120mm Fan SLI Ready ATX12v v2.2 or
Corsair HX Series 520W Modular PSU - ATX12V v2.2 APFC

Mobo:
Asus P5N-E SLI 650i Socket 775 Onboard Audio ATX

Processor:
intel core 2 duo e6750 (ebuyer are selling this for £121 before release, maybe less when released)

Graphics card:
EVGA 8800GTS SuperClocked 320MB DDR3 DVI PCI-E Graphics Card

HDD:
Seagate ST3250620A 250GB Hard Drive 7200RPM 16MB Cache - OEM

Optical drive:
Samsung SH-S203B 20X DVD±RW/RAM / DL Serial ATA Black Bare Drive - OEM

Ram:
OCZ 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 CL 4-4-4-15 PLATINUM XTC with LIFETIME WARRANTY

Operating system:
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium x32Bit OEM 1PK DVD

Preripherals::::::::::

keyboard and mouse:
Microsoft Business Hardware Pack - Black/Silver Wired Keyboard with Black Wired Optical Mouse - PS/2-USB

monitor:
HannsG HU196D 19" 8MS 700:1 (1280 x 1024) Silver & Black DVI MultiMedia TFT Monitor 3 Years Onsite Warranty

total this came to was around £780. including about £120 for the processor, which may change. but its under £800.

my brother said this was a good build for the money, but was just wondering on your opinion. anything i cud change? which PSU to go for. apparently i shudnt skimp on the psu, i chose a 300w to start off with lol.

thnx for the help guys.

Firstly, very well spec'd my friend. A well balanced system.

Go for the Corsair psu, or even better go for Enermax's Liberty 500w. Slightly cheaper as well.

Bin the motherboard, its an SLI board so unless you're getting two cards its a waste. Choose instead an Asus P5B-E, cheaper as well at about 50 quid now.

Hi Wikerman.

Firstly, sincerest apologies. Was getting rather punchy at the time i wrote that reply. Due to that I've misinformed you.

The P5b will ONLY support the E6750 if you o.c the fsb. At stock speeds it won't.

So that board is no good for you.

Taking the price of the mobo you quoted as a benchmark. And of course looking at bang for buck:

This is basically the newer revision (P35 chipset) of the P5 I quoted you.

Slightly more expensive.

Or theres This one

Unfortunately I havn't had much of a play with Intel's new P35 chipset as yet but (and trying to make up for my previous error) I've had a nosey at various reviews and some forums for the two boards quoted and both look rather decent to be fair.

If you want more for your money i would first go for an AMD socket AM2 processor and motherboard as they are cheaper than Intel processors and according to reviews i have read they are better too. Also get all your parts off the internet from trusted sites, or trusted sellers on eBay as you will get your parts for a fraction of the price. For example 1gb if ram would cost you about £40 in PC world but you can get it from ebay for about £15, which basicly saves you money for more and better parts.
