Like many people, I've recently fallen for the trap of spending good money on computer parts but skimping down on the price of the PSU. After reading quite a few posts about the dangers of cheap-skate PSU's, I decided not to wait until it was too late and get myself a new one right now.

Last Tuesday, I bought a 600 Watt modular Arctic with all the whistles and bells to replace my £16 Extra Value 500 Watt I got from ebuyer. The thing installed fine only... Since the new PSU is installed, I'm not getting any more POST beep. I've just spend 2 days turning my whole system upside down but I can't find any problems whatsoever... The polygon factory is currently running like a train.

I usually got an answer for about anything but this time I'm at a bit of a loss...! I've run out of idea's on where to look after all the connectors were checked and all individual parts were tested in a spare system. Temperatures and fan speeds are spot on... I'm not even sure is there is a problem at all... Anyone been in this situation before?

Cheers:
Chris

Thanks for your replay redden137.

On one hand you're right; why worry if you can't really find a problem. On the other hand, if your PC is not doing something it is supposed to do, could that not mean that although there doesn't appear to be a problem there could still somethig going on that you missed and that will bite you in the back further down the line? That was kinda my way of thinking and the reason why I started the tread. But it feels a lot more comforting if other people can confirm they have (or had) the same happening to them but no major issues occured.

Yep ... I wouldn't worry either, I've had this happen before on a few boxes.

Sometimes it's $ods law, that when you change things around, something doesn't work afterwards and often a component will fail .... in this case maybe the tiny mobo speaker has chosen this precise time to give up the ghost and confuse things for you.

Usually when I put something back together again I got parts left... Not things missing...

Anyway, as said, it's comforting to know that I'm not alone in the world with this "problem".

As for not fixing something that is not broke, I totally agree. However, these were what I call "preventive measures". Leeds to be done from time to time if you want to keep your system in shape.
