$115 for 4GB of DDR800? Jesus christ. Nice heat spreaders, though.

Yeah, what Carbon said.

Those heatspreaders are only used when you're oc'ing by the way. Or rather, they only need to be there when you oc the dimms.

The Mobo is ok, I'm not so enthused with X48 myself. I'd've gone with a P5-Q. Same southbridge for drive support etc.

Bin the Raptor. Samsung F1 1TB is only 10 bucks more and has nearly 7 times the capacity, oh, and it's faster in read/write and sustained.

Doing this will also allow you to bin the storage drive you've spec'd which will in turn allow you to save some money and you'll still end up with more storage capacity.

Looking at ATI's gpu architecture the 4850 isn't much of an improvement over the 38** series. Actually I'd go so far as to say it's a bit of a letdown. The tight pricing only makes it a maybe. I'd still be purchasing a 8800GT/GTS after looking at both of those points.

The X-ram, for me just isn't worth the money when you can get the Extreme Gamer card for 60 bucks less, and the same compatibility. And the X-ram is the only real benefit. Well, insomuch as it can be a benefit for 60 dollars extra.

Other than that it looks good to me.

why not go for the E8200? in a shop near me the E8200 is $182, the E8400 is $207 and the E8500 is $309!!

i'd just get the E8200 and overclock it

well i see that many of you are saying prices are hi. but in reality, when you put it in card, im getting $100's of saving on discounts. I get $10 off each of the GPU's, the RAM i get for only $100 (and i do plan to OC them) the price of the E8400 goes up and down a lot but i will buy when it goes back to $164 like when i put it in my cart. I was guna get the 10,000 for just my OS drive so the OS would load up faster and the 640GB for games. I would just get the 80GB raptor for the OS, but i am going to partiton the half for vista and half for XP (in the end it will be more than enough for the OS and other non game/video related things seeing as now i will have many GB left from no games on that drive). i also decided on the dual 4850 over the origanal idea of dual 8800GT. I found the ATI card has better power for price and also supports DX 10.1 (opposed to DX10 on the 8800GT) and since i couldnt find a good OC SLI board out there after days and days of searching, i found that the X48 motherboard does will at overclocking but only does crossfire, not SLI, but thats no longer a problem for me(hence the GPU i have chosen)

once again, sorry for my spelling. my PC is acting weird right now and keeps locking up for a half a second (hence my spelling mistakes)
