A lot can be said by the motherboard beeps.
If the motherboard peeps something is probably not seated correctly
If the motherboard doesn't even turn on the CPU or the motherboard itself is not correct
If there are no beeps and everything is in correctly Then maybe its a bios settings error - try reseting the bios.

i,m not sure what damage would happen to what by removing the memory

The motherboard is a all in one combo
so the cpu wasn't touched i only needed to swap the leads over

How do i reset the Bios

lucky its just a spare pc but i would like to get it going again

Regards

Does it make system beeps.... (little beeps the mobo will make when it turns on)
that will tell you if the memory is not seated or dead.
and resetting the bios is different for each motherboard. Usually there is a jumper on the motherboard that if you place the jumper on the alternate pins and click the power it will reset the bios, then you put the jumper back into its original location and attempt to turn on the computer again.

it doesn,t beep. but starts making a "working noise" as though lights on but no one at home

i will switch the jumpers and see how that goes

Thanks
