For what it's worth Spot, I've seen posts of other people (who shall remain nameless) form which I found them being either rude or patronising. Having said that, they probably didn't even meant it that way. It is far too easy to sound rude, angry, patrinising, etc... when you're writing an email or a post. That's usually the reason why I tend to prefer a face-to-face conversation at work rather then send an email to someone, even it means that I need to get of my chair and walk to the other side of the building to talk to someone. I prefer it that way actually because it means my lazy arse isn't glued to my chair for the whole day.

Add to this that it is practically impossible to judge how much someone knows about a computer, unless they tell you, or they are members and both you and them have been around the forum for some time and you're starting to know each other. There is a saying: "assumption is the mothr of all screwups". You can assume that someone is knowledgeable about computers only to find out that they know very little and are having a lot of problems following what you are trying to tell them. You're better of playing it the other way. Most people will be glad to tell you that they know something rather than accusing you of being patronising.

Just chill man. The most important thing is that you're here, you're helping people, you're getting help yourself, you're increasing your knowledge and you're having some fun along the way. And if someone has a stab at you for the language you're using than take their remark into account but don't let it get to you. Life is way too short to be bothered about such issues.

Anyway, we're straying of the main topic here. Buch still needs some help with a hot system me thinks...

Buchanan: it is possible for you to tell us what motherboard you have? Reason I'm asking is because even on new motherboards the northbridge chip can run very hot with the stock heatsink on it and you need to add either a fan yourself or fork out a little on a passive cooler. I knew that about my current mobo even before I bought it. It might be that you're suffering the same problem. Second of all, don't ignore the southbridge contoller either as any malfunction on that one sould have an impact on your graphics card. Is there a heatsink on the southbridge chip? Has it got a fan on there? What is the temperature of the southbridge?

Cheers:
Chris.

"I prefer it that way actually because it means my lazy arse isn't glued to my chair for the whole day." They glue people to the seat at work in Belgium?!

Not sure... Haven't been living or working in Belgium for the past 11 years. I live in the UK. I can always call my mum and dad and ask them though...

No, I'm waiting to see how a friendly and knowledgeable person provides accurate and helpful information without being elliptic or sarcastic so I can compare it with what I wrote and improve my defective style.

Don't worry about it. Your response was fine.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks there was nothing wrong with his response.

Hey, let me sit on my ash-heap and sulk, I don't often get the opportunity to indulge myself.
